I’ve been learning German for a few years now – Franzie and I are keen to bring up our kids bi-lingual with German and English – but it’s not always so easy to take corrections from your spouse…
Thankfully, Deutsche Welle have a whole bunch of podcasts for anyone wanting to learn the language! I’m currently subscribed to the Slowly-spoken news reports (updated daily), Top Themes with Vocab lists which has current reports read slowly with vocabulary suppliments, and Sprachbar – headlines from daily press, literary quotes, proverbs, figures of speech and grammatical phenomena are explained in detail. How good is that for a free service!
On top of that, they also offer free beginner, intermediate and business German lessons, all large collections of mp3′s with corresponding pdf’s (like Leigh’s screencasting idea). What a great way to learn!
Cool – I’m really loving learning Chinese via Chinesepod.com
Now I can learn German too!
Wow, chinesepod.com looks really well organised! The way you can add words you’re learning to your word-bank! Isn’t it incredible what you can learn today!
Oooh look! Japanese too! Check out Tokyo Cube.
Nowhere near as extensive as the other two – but I like the culture and lifestyle stuff that’s here too.
It truly is incredible what you can learn online!
Cool. Always thought the web could be used like this to learn language. Are there any other languages available?
Hey Tom! Jo’s written a post Learning Languages Online which has got some excellent links to a few other languages!
