Wikiversity has been around for a while as a sub-project of Wikibooks, but it recently launched into beta with it’s own domain. From the Wikiversity homepage:

Learning tools for life

It’s no secret that learning institutions pay big money for educational tools that are meant to make the teacher’s job easier. But I reckon most learning institutions have a hard time getting employees to use these tools.
